My parents, sister, and I would like to thank the donors from the bottom of our hearts. Access to the Be Perfect Foundation services has given me and my family a real shot at fighting what most think is a losing battle: the war on contractures and muscular dystrophy.

My name is Luis Rivera and I suffer from Congenital Muscular Dystrophy and Severe Hypotonia, which I contracted at birth.

The Be Perfect Foundation has closed the gap on a need that no other social service, insurance, or program has been able to meet: access to high level therapy. I currently get therapy, at The Perfect Step "TPS", once every other week, which falls well short of what is needed to fight my contractures.

This foundation has restored hope that I will be able to meet my goal(s). The most immediate goal at the moment is being able to maintain as much range of motion in my ankles, knees, and elbows. The long term goal is to be able to eventually get a power chair that can stand me. That way I can participate in school activities at eye level with my peers.

I am new to The Perfect Step, but the fact that they will be working with me helps tremendously. I will be able to benefit from professionals that frankly my family cannot afford. The goals that I hope to achieve at TPS are to fight my contractures and embed myself in a culture of positivity.

My short term goal is to learn to maximize my physical abilities within the context of my condition. Another goal is to use therapy to maintain my lung health, which is vital to my health.

My parents, sister, and I would like to thank the donors from the bottom of our hearts. Access to the Be Perfect Foundation services give my family and a real shot and fighting what most think is a losing battle: the war on contractures and muscular dystrophy.
