Casey McGinnis

Being able to use the restroom and shower without help has been life-changing for me. These things may seem small to others, but for me, not having to rely on family for every little aspect of life has given me so much hope.
— Casey McGinnis

Casey McGinnis, a 38-year-old stroke survivor, faced significant challenges after a severe stroke on September 6, 2024. The stroke occurred during surgery to remove a brain tumor, leaving Casey with left-sided weakness, limited use of their left arm and hand, and slight movement in their left leg. After spending six weeks in a critical rehabilitation hospital, Casey returned to live with their parents in a home that was not wheelchair accessible, presenting further barriers to recovery and independence.

The Be Perfect Foundation stepped in to transform this difficult situation. Thanks to the Foundation's support, Casey's parents' home underwent significant renovations, including creating an ADA-compliant bathroom on the ground floor, widening doorways for easier access, and installing strategically placed grab bars to support mobility and standing. These changes have made the home a safer and more accommodating space, enabling Casey to move around independently and reclaim their dignity.

"Being able to use the restroom and shower without help has been life-changing for me," Casey shared. "These things may seem small to others, but for me, not having to rely on family for every little aspect of life has given me so much hope."

Through the Be Perfect Foundation's generosity, Casey continues to focus on physical and occupational therapy, with the ultimate goal of walking independently again. This journey has not only been about physical recovery but also about restoring emotional well-being and confidence.

Casey and their family are deeply grateful to the Be Perfect Foundation and its donors for their support, which has given them a renewed sense of hope and independence.
