His story...

Andy was injured in an unfortunate skateboard accident 10 years ago, which left him with a traumatic brain injury. Andy continues to smile each and every day that he wakes up. He is a constant light in people's day and always is able to bring a good laugh to the room anywhere that he goes.

My name is Andy Marrero and I suffered a traumatic brain injury in a skateboarding accident in 2006. Shortly after my injury my mom, Cathy, met Lorie Hargrave from The Be Perfect Foundation at Casa Colina, where I was receiving therapy and was made aware of what the foundation does for those who are suffering from paralysis. At the time of my injury, I was a full-time student at Cal State Los Angeles, majoring in kinesiology and a member of the baseball team, while maintaining a part-time job. Because of the generosity and support of The Be Perfect Foundation, my life now revolves around my sessions at The Perfect Step. My workouts are my top priority and I maintain a great sense of humor through the midst of it all because of the personal touch of my Specialists.

The Perfect Step has taken my recovery to the next level. I now have much more confidence in the things that I can do. Be Perfect has given me the support that I have needed to make progress. I would like to say to the donors, "Thank you. It is people like you that allow people like me able to make improvements in our lives."

In my free time, I enjoy watching movies and playing video games.

My short-term goal is also my long-term goal. I hope to gain more balance and improve my gait training, so I can take better steps. The Perfect Step is where I have seen many major changes since I started participating in the program. If it wasn't for Be Perfect and its financial support, these changes could not have happened.

My biggest achievement since starting in the TPS program is my improved balance and my increased confidence.

I am inspired by Hal Hargrave. Every time I see him working out, I appreciate the fact that he loves to be able to interact and have conversations with his specialist and other clients.

YOU CAN HELP GIVE HOPE TO SOMEBODY LIKE ANDY!
