Name is Benjamin Barnabas. On September 10, 2018, I suffered a traumatic cervical spinal cord injury while I was on my way back from a job interview.

While on my way back from a job interview in a commercial ten-man minibus, our driver hit a pothole and the bus somersaulted several times leaving me unconscious and quadriplegic instantly with several fatal injuries among the passengers.

The Be Perfect Foundation assisted me by paying for my physiotherapy sessions at The Perfect Step in the United States, where ultimately I will be pursuing bettering my quality of life thus allowing my dreams to come true.

Before Be Perfect intervened with financial support, I missed weeks if not months of therapy sessions, which meant losing most of the things I could do, like assisted standing, pushing against resistance, etc. But, with this scholarship, my hope of independence is reassured.

Upon getting to the US and enrolled in the program, my current goals are to ride a stationary bicycle for months. Recently I did it and I was so happy that day though I could no longer afford to go to the gym again if not for the Be Perfect Foundation timely intervention.

In the future, I want to be able to eat by myself, roll on the bed, sit on my own without the support of any sort, and control my bladder. This will be possible if I can attend The Perfect Step (A paralysis recovery center in Pomona, California) in less than a year but it will cost me about $40,000 USD which I can’t afford.
