My name is Christopher Almaguer, and on February 16, 2022, my life changed drastically when I sustained a gunshot wound while inside a vehicle. This incident left me with a spinal cord injury at the T-7 level and led to two surgeries for a broken right arm and a collapsed lung. Coping with these challenges was incredibly tough, but that's when the Be Perfect Foundation stepped in to offer me a lifeline.
Be Perfect provided me with a scholarship that enabled me to attend additional therapy sessions. This support was a game-changer as it allowed me to regain my independence and confidence. I used to feel embarrassed pushing myself on a wheelchair, but thanks to Be Perfect, I now handle it with pride and freedom. Their assistance helped me become more self-reliant and active, allowing me to venture out with family or even on my own.
But their impact on my life goes beyond physical assistance. Be Perfect re-instilled hope in me when I needed it most. Knowing that I had a support system, a community that believed in me and my potential, made my days brighter and gave me the strength to overcome rough times.
Through this journey, I set several goals for myself, and I am proud to say that I have achieved many of them. I am more independent and stronger, thanks to the "perfect step" that Be Perfect guided me towards. Their continuous support and dedication to my well-being have made a tremendous difference in my life, and I can't thank them enough for it.
Looking ahead, I have future goals that I aspire to achieve with the help of Be Perfect. Among them is obtaining a new wheelchair that suits my needs better, as well as further improving my physical abilities. My ultimate dream is to stand on my own two feet again, and with Be Perfect's encouragement, I keep a positive mindset and refuse to give up on this aspiration.
