Dawson Niblett
Dawson Niblett's life took an unexpected turn on May 16, 2021, when he experienced sudden numbness in his hands and lost function in both legs, diagnosed as a spinal stroke at the C1-5 level. This devastating event left him with limited movement in his left fingers, challenges with his left leg, and weakness in his torso. Despite these challenges, Dawson remains determined to pursue his aspirations, especially in the field of welding, a passion he held even before his stroke.
The scholarship provided by the Be Perfect Foundation will be instrumental in Dawson's journey towards recovery. "This scholarship will be used to help pay for continued physical and occupational therapy," Dawson explains. With access to these therapies, Dawson aims to maintain his physical health and work towards minimizing the impact of his stroke, allowing him to continue pursuing his goals.
As a 19-year-old sophomore in tech school, Dawson has always been active and enjoys outdoor activities such as basketball, hunting, and fishing. "How will it improve my quality of life? I've always been a very active person...My quality of life has been impacted significantly, and physical training will allow me to return to the best state possible to enjoy the things I've always enjoyed and pursued," he shares. Through physical training, Dawson hopes to regain his strength and mobility, enabling him to engage once again in the activities he loves.
With determination and support from Be Perfect, Dawson remains optimistic about his future. By continuing his physical and occupational therapy, he strives to overcome the challenges posed by his spinal stroke and reclaim his active lifestyle. The scholarship not only provides financial assistance but also serves as a beacon of hope, empowering Dawson to pursue his dreams despite the obstacles he faces.
