Jose Perales
My name is Jose Perales. In late 2006 at 15 years old I underwent an intense 18 hour spine corrective surgery for my severe scoliosis that left me paraplegic. In the beginning, the injury left me feeling rage, depression, and hopelessness. But overtime, my situation shifted my mindset. I learned to evolve and adapt to the changes. It gave my life more value and gave me the compassion to be a guide for others. The support from Be Perfect changed my life tremendously.
I first heard about Be Perfect during the winter of 2018. One night I went out in shorts to throw out some garbage. That night was actually pretty cold and windy, and for the first time in 11 years, I noticed my brain started picking up on cold sensations coming from my legs. I went back inside my home and started praying to Creator. I told Creator, “if it’s meant for me to walk again, please bring something into my life to get me from point A, to point B.” A month and a half later, one of my gym buddies that worked at the Mission Inn in Riverside, CA, called me sharing a story about how he met a man while working valet. He explained that this man, got out of his adapted vehicle and into his wheelchair. They both started chatting up about wheelchairs and the man shared his contact information with him. Well, that contact information was from Hal Hargrave Jr., and it made it’s way to me, so I started doing my research. Call it a manifestation, or a prayer that had been answered from Creator, but it happened. Fast forward to 2019, and through Be Perfect's support, I was blessed to attend my first physical therapy session at The Perfect Step. Which in turn gave me the hope and strength to recover from my paralysis. And above all, therapy has helped me alleviate so much back pain that I deal with every day. And at the same time it gave me a reason to get myself out of the house and travel 45 miles away from home on my own. It was financial abundance, physical therapy, and therapy to my mental well-being at the same time.
Over time, I was able to meet some goals such as increase my core strength, increase the bone density in my legs, and gain flexibility in my legs. Now that I have returned to therapy in 2021 I am starting to get movement back in both of my legs. Be Perfect has positively affected me in a way where, if I have my mind, heart, and soul set on something, I will not take a no for an answer. Be Perfect has inspired me to find other ways to work around my obstacles in order to reach my goals.
I would like to thank every single donor that has contributed to my physical and mental well being. I know saying thank you is a cliche, so I’m going to say...BLESS YOU! Bless you for giving people like me the opportunity and resources to keep the wheels turning at The Perfect Step.
Bless you for giving us a chance in spaces where our government is slacking. Bless you! Bless your families. Bless the ground you walk on. Bless the air that you breathe, the nourishment you put in your body. May Creator grant you all the fulfillment you desire for the years to come.
