LaThea Adams
LaThea Adams suffered a spinal cord injury caused by transverse myelitis on September 8, 2005, at the tender age of 17, leaving her completely paralyzed from C4 to C7. This devastating event occurred just three days into her senior year of high school. Since then, LaThea has faced numerous challenges in her journey toward regaining independence and an active lifestyle.
The Be Perfect Foundation has played a crucial role in supporting her recovery. In 2020, the foundation provided her with an Up-N-Go walker, which has given her a newfound sense of independence. LaThea shared, "The Up-N-Go helps give me a sense of independence because I usually have to walk with either someone stabilizing me in front or on my right side. With the Up-N-Go, I can use it with or without assistance because of the structure of the walker."
In 2024, Be Perfect extended their support by contributing to her integrated therapy sessions. These sessions are expected to help her regain strength, endurance, and mobility, ultimately enhancing her overall recovery by increasing functionality. LaThea expressed how the foundation has reinstilled hope in her life, especially after the setbacks caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. She mentioned, "Since COVID, I have not been able to exercise like I would like. This has set me back because I have gained 30 pounds, which makes it more difficult for me to get around. However, Be Perfect has brought back hope by their donations, helping me do what I truly love, which is exercising. I believe that this therapy program will help me get back on my recovery path."
For 2024, LaThea has set a goal to undergo uninterrupted therapy, a journey she can embark on thanks to the generous donors. Looking ahead, she hopes to continue her intensive therapy and personal training sessions for about a year or as long as needed to make a full recovery.
LaThea would like to extend her heartfelt gratitude to the donors who have supported her health journey. She acknowledges their generosity and the significant impact it has had on her life, enabling her to pursue her goals and strive towards full recovery.
