Antoinette Haddad
Antoinette Haddad's journey with the Be Perfect Foundation began after a life-altering injury on December 22, 2023. She suffered an aortic dissection, a tear in her aorta that led to severe internal bleeding. Without immediate emergency surgery, she would have died within two hours. Although she survived, the loss of blood flow to her spinal cord resulted in paralysis from the waist down, leaving her paraplegic. Despite having some feeling, she has no control over her lower body.
The support provided by the Perfect Step has been vital for Antoinette, re-instilling hope and energy to push for recovery and independence. She recently started her rehabilitation journey and already feels the extraordinary opportunity to recover. Antoinette expressed her gratitude, saying, "The staff are all amazing, and I’m feeling very blessed by this opportunity." The great physical therapists and supportive staff at the facility have brought new energy and hope to her recovery. Their optimism and helpfulness, along with seeing others work on their recoveries, make her feel less alone.
Though Antoinette is still at the beginning of her journey, she feels more hopeful now than she has in the last month. Her ultimate goal is to walk again or, at the very least, regain her independence. She is deeply grateful to the donors whose support has been crucial during this challenging time. "Being disabled has put an enormous financial strain on me and my girls," she explains. "This support will allow me to continue at TPS, giving me a chance to become independent and hopefully walk again. For me, this is a life and death kind of situation, and I’m so grateful for them to enable life."
