“It is an amazing gift you are giving me by donating to the Be Perfect Foundation. Thank you for giving up your valuable time to even think of the SCI community and give a donation. I am truly grateful!”
On September 1, 2017, Alexis Monahan’s life changed forever when she sustained a C4 spinal cord injury in a motorcycle accident. Despite the challenges that came with her injury, she has remained committed to maintaining her health, strength, and independence. Through the support of the Be Perfect Foundation, Alexis has been able to continue her adaptive exercise therapy, which has been a critical component of her recovery journey.
This therapy provides her access to specialized exercise equipment she wouldn’t otherwise have at home, allowing her to stretch, reduce atrophy and edema, maintain strength and flexibility, and alleviate pain. “Be Perfect has given me hope because continuing therapy is very important to my health and strength,” Alexis shares.
Her primary goal is to preserve as much strength and flexibility as possible, despite not having voluntary movement. She continues to focus on developing abdominal strength to improve her balance and hopes to regain some movement and muscle memory in her right hand.
To those who support the Be Perfect Foundation, Alexis expresses her deepest gratitude. “It is an amazing gift you are giving me by donating to the Be Perfect Foundation. Thank you for giving up your valuable time to even think of the SCI community and give a donation. I am truly grateful!” With the continued generosity of donors, Alexis and others in similar situations can push forward on their journey to recovery and independence.
